Until now, Jim’s engagements have been limited to those who’ve taken part in his by-invitation workshops and other learning programs. The release of his new book prompts an expansion, with first priority still given to those who’ve studied with him. Requests may be considered where Jim has an interest in the particular cause, organization, or project — and where he sees a potential he can contribute to realizing.
Speaking
Jim’s speaking engagements are custom-designed to produce lasting results for your organization — by advancing a change initiative or other specific project. His one-of-a-kind perspective provokes new ways of seeing … and a deeper understanding of how people become involved and inspired.
The engagement often begins well before the appearance, with participants receiving materials (such as one of Jim’s books or other writings) so they can get the most out of the experience.
Jim can also have contact with selected individuals who will be attending, drawing information and experiences from them to ensure that the appearance is customized and they — and the group — are honored. This customization continues after the appearance with emails to ensure the experience is kept alive.
Jim pulls out all the stops to make his speaking engagements a genuine investment in your organization’s future, not just the usual speaker’s flash in the pan. (If you’re just looking just to “fill a slot” in a speaker line-up, or for someone to teach typical solicitation techniques or how to write a grant proposal, there are plenty of other folks offering those kinds of services.)

Thinking Partnerships
Jim’s consulting practice is as unusual as his speaking. In fact, it begins with characterizing him as a “thinking partner” — a signal of how he expects and treats the “client” as someone who brings much to the relationship.
Jim’s focus is always on strengthening the client’s capacity — rather than assuming ongoing dependence on consultants. So situations generally thought to call for consulting often have been addressed more quickly and economically by providing a workshop or other learning program.
In keeping with his focus on learning and teaching, Jim often uses a consulting engagement as a learning opportunity for another consultant, or works with co-counsel. (He has also provided counsel on the selection of a consultant.)
Jim’s practice has been to serve one client at a time, at times beginning to work with a new client as he is concluding service with another. So his availability is limited, with priority given to alums of his learning programs. Still, if you are interested, please be in touch to explore the possibilities.
